Passed down from one generation to the next.
My passion for cooking began at an early age in my grandmother, Carrie’s, kitchen. I remember the meals she prepared with love, the wonderful aromas, and the warm feeling of Italian hospitality as family and friends gathered to celebrate, share and enjoy her creations. She was the matriarch of our family as well as an entrepreneur, opening her first bakery in 1948 and her first restaurant in 1960. She served customers as if they were friends dining in her home, and she treated employees as if they were family.
The lessons I learned from my grandmother about business and her unique approach to treating employees and customers were invaluable. From the kitchen in her home to the kitchen in her restaurant, what I learned from my grandmother set my path in life, and it continues to influence how I run my restaurants today.
